Peace with God

God loves you. He wants a relationship with you; that’s why He created you.

“In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us…” (1 John 4:10).

We have a problem, though. Each of us has sinned, and our sin separates us from our Creator.

“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

Sin requires a penalty. It offends our holy Creator. He is pure, righteous, without any sin, and He is all-powerful and all-knowing. We’ve all sinned (be honest!). And there’s no hiding from Him.

We are in big trouble.

“For the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23).

Because God is both loving and holy, He made a way to reconcile us to Himself. This lays to rest any doubts about the limitless depths of His love.

He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to pay the penalty for our sin.

“God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

After He was crucified and died, God raised Jesus from death, proving His acceptance of Christ’s sacrifice for our sins.

“Christ died for our sins…. He was buried…. He was raised on the third day, according to the Scriptures…. He appeared to Peter, then to the twelve. After that, He appeared to more than five hundred” (1 Corinthians 15:3-6).

Thus, Jesus is the only way to God. Good deeds will never be enough.

“I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father but through Me” (John 14:6).

So, how do we find peace with God? We must individually come to Him, receiving Jesus’ offer of complete forgiveness through His death and resurrection.

It is a simple, but life-changing, decision. Jesus promises to come into the life of anyone who receives Him. Through Him, we can be reconciled to God.

“For He Himself has said, ‘I will never let you go, nor will I by any means forsake you'” (Hebrews 13:5 DLNT).

Do you want this relationship with your Creator? Here’s a simple prayer you can use, to begin your life with Him:

God, I admit that I am a sinner, and I need Your forgiveness. I want to know You personally, to have the relationship that You had in mind, when You created me.

Thank you, Jesus, for dying for me, to pay the penalty for my sins. Please, cover my sins with Your holy blood and redemption, and come into my life. Take the throne of my heart as Your own. I give You my allegiance, as my rightful Lord.

In Christ’s name, Amen.
